Chatham, ON—Service employees working at Residence on the Thames voted unanimously in favour of a new three-year collective agreement, which provides them with an immediate wage catch-up of $1.00 per hour and annual wage increases totalling eight percent over the next three years.
Service employees at the retirement home were represented by CUPE until May 2011 when they voted to join of Southwestern Ontario Health Care and Service Workers Union, Local 303.
“I’m thrilled that our first negotiation alongside these employees was so positive,” says Brian VanDooren, Ontario representative. “This agreement provides some much needed financial stability to a group that was crying out for it.”
