Penn-Co Construction Employees Ratify Renewed Agreement

DATE: October 24, 2011

Winnipeg—Members of Construction Workers Union, Local 152,  employed by Penn-Co Construction Canada Limited, recently voted strongly in favour of a new collective agreement.

The three-year contract includes an immediate three percent base wage increase retroactive to May 2011, with three percent increases in the second and third years of the agreement. The agreement also defines minimum standards for camp conditions.

“This is a good agreement,” says Geoff Dueck Thiessen, CLAC’s Manitoba director. “It addresses several key areas of concern, provides sound wages and increases, and tidies up some contract language.”
