Patience, Patience

DATE: September 19, 2011

CLAC’s return to Saskatchewan started in earnest just over a year ago. The past year has been one of new beginnings and a whirlwind of activity—not to mention an exercise in patience.

From CLAC’s new office in Saskatoon, staff have organized a number of workplaces as more and more Saskatchewan workers turn to CLAC for help. Members are getting the training they need, either at the union’s training centre or right where they live and work through partnerships with training providers across Saskatchewan.

Many certification applications are pending before the Saskatchewan Labour Relations Board. But others in the labour movement continue to do their best to delay CLAC’s applications. So far, however, they have been defeated by every decision issued by the board.

CLAC Saskatchewan continues to grow in membership, and workers in need of workplace help continue to call the Saskatoon office on a regular basis. One by one, the delaying tactics of the other unions are being defeated. But in the meantime, CLAC and its members must continue to be patient throughout the process until their right to be represented by the union of their choice is finally realized.
