OEM Remanufacturing Employees Ratify New Contract

Edmonton—Local 56 members employed by OEM Remanufacturing voted eighty percent in favour of a new three-year collective agreement.

The contract includes wage increases of 2.5 percent in the first year, and 2 percent increases in each subsequent year. Also included are ten additional hours of sick time per year, the introduction of twenty hours of flex time per year, a bonus equivalent to twenty hours of pay, and clarification on overtime and statutory holiday payments.        

OEM employs over 500 Local 56 members who rebuild Caterpillar engines and transmissions, as well as other heavy equipment, restoring it to original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specifications.
