Nursing Student Receives Scholarship

DATE: September 23, 2011

Edmonton—Daniel Drozak of Edmonton has won a $1,500 scholarship from CLAC.

Daniel is currently in his third year of a bachelor of science degree in nursing at the University of Alberta. His mother, Patti Drozak, has been a member for twenty-one years of Health Care and Service Employees’ Union, Local 301, affiliated with CLAC.

Patti works at the Save-On-Foods store in Mayfield. Save-On’s approximately 3,000 employees in Alberta are represented by Local 301.

“It is great that CLAC has the opportunity to provide scholarships and financial support for members' children who will soon be in the workforce,” says Daniel. “To be in school for four or five years is expensive. This will take a lot of stress off me and my family.”

CLAC awards twelve scholarships annually to members, their spouses, children, and grandchildren.
