Fort McMurray, AB—Local 63 members employed by Kiewit Energy working on the Kearl oilsands project in Fort McMurray recently ratified a new collective agreement.
The contract provides a wage increase retroactive to September 2011, and a two percent wage increase in January 2012 and in March 2012. Other notable gains include an increase to the pension plan, prescription safety eyewear benefit, and a retention bonus.
“We are pleased with the results from the negotiations and the overall acceptance of this agreement from our members,” says Gerry Harrison, chief steward.
Kiewit Energy is a prime contractor on the Kearl oilsands site and has been awarded phase two of the project, which will keep CLAC members employed in the foreseeable future.
