Edmonton—Local 56 members employed by JV Driver Steel Shop voted strongly in favour of a new collective agreement, which became effective August 1, 2011.
The two-and-a-half-year contract includes substantial wage and pension increases, vacation and holiday improvements, and new job security provisions. New classifications were added along with rewards for recognized leaders in the workforce to allow upward mobility for all workers.
“Everyone is very pleased about the improvements this first renewal agreement provides,” says Eric Nederlof, Alberta representative. “It will help build a competitive, quality team in both the labour and business markets and make JV Driver an attractive employer to many workers.”
JV Driver Steel Shop employees cut, fit, weld, and ship steel fabricated for a wide variety of construction projects.
