Sarnia, ON—Members of Construction Workers Local 53 employed by ART Concrete Forming Ltd. accepted terms for a renewed collective agreement.
The settlement provides employees with increases to wage rates and pension contributions in each year of the three-year contract, along with provisions for improved reimbursement for tools, work wear, and safety boots. Further restructuring to existing articles was made in securing weekly pay and daily overtime.
A primary feature of the new agreement is a change in health insurance carrier to the union’s health care plan. Employees will continue to receive excellent benefits but will experience an improved level of service through the union.
“Bringing these employees into the CLAC health benefit plan is a positive development,” says Roger Grootenboer, Ontario representative with Local 53. “The union is motivated to provide good representation to our members—it’s what we do. That’s the service and accessibility that employees were looking for, and that is what we work to provide.”
