St. Albert, AB—Members of Health Care and Service Employees’ Union, Local 301, employed by Citadel Care Centre voted strongly in favour of a two-year collective agreement, which provides wage increases of three percent.
The new contract also provides a 2.5 percent increase for 2012, with a further wage review, as well as an additional matching RRSP contribution and increases to shift differentials and premiums. The bargaining unit at the long term care facility includes health care aides; recreation aides; maintenance assistants; and housekeeping, dietary, and laundry staff.
“Employees were pleased with improvements made during this round of negotiations,” says Melanie St. Andrews, Alberta representative for Local 301. “This new contract also addresses some non-monetary items that employees were looking for such as banked holiday pay.”
