Edmonton—Local 56 members working in Ryder Truck Rental’s maintenance shop approved a newly negotiated collective agreement that runs to the end of 2011. The members repair and maintain Ryder’s fleet of lease and rental vehicles in and around Edmonton.
The unique settlement establishes performance incentives for employees to help increase shop productivity. “The shop has recently gone through some managerial and performance challenges,” says Eric Nederlof, Alberta representative. “This short term agreement will reward our members for helping to get the shop back to more historic productivity levels from which we will improve our bargaining position for 2012 when we also expect the economy to be more fully recovered.”
