Mr. Electric Employees Join CLAC, Ratify First Agreement

DATE: September 28, 2011

Ottawa—Employees of the Ottawa location of Mr. Electric voted unanimously in favour of accepting a three-year first collective agreement.

CLAC was certified by the Ontario Labour Relations Board to represent Mr. Electric employees in June 2011. The company provides electrical upgrade, installation, and repair services for residential and commercial customers throughout the Ottawa region.

The agreement includes significant wage and vacation pay increases as well as enrolment in the union-sponsored Health & Welfare Trust Fund program and the CLAC Pension Plan. The contract makes the workers among the highest paid service and maintenance electricians in Ottawa.

“We are very pleased with the agreement and the unanimous outcome of the vote,” says Brendan Kooy, Ottawa and eastern Ontario director. “We look forward to representing this group of workers for years to come.”
