Metro Community Receives Donation from CLAC

Kelowna, BC—Metro Community received a $2,500 donation from CLAC as part of the union’s Building Communities Together program.

The downtown church provides outreach to the homeless, those struggling with addictions, and those suffering from mental health issues. It was nominated by Dennis Oenema, who is a member of Service, Health, and Allied Workers’ Union, Local 501. Dennis is employed by Bethesda Christian Association’s Kelowna East location and is a union steward.

Metro Community runs a community kitchen, non-profit coffee shop, a free clothing outlet, an arts studio, and a community garden. It also provides meeting rooms, computers, Internet and telephone access, laundry facilities, and counselling and referral services.
