Marnoch Electric Employees Ratify Agreement

DATE: July 06, 2011

Barrie, ON—Employees of Marnoch Electrical Services Inc. recently ratified their first collective agreement negotiated by Construction Workers Local 52.

The three-year contract includes standardized, across-the-board improvements to wages, vacation pay, benefits, pension, and training. Because the Barrie-based electrical contractor performs electrical services, projects, and solar installations throughout the province, the bargaining team ensured that travel provisions were put in place that benefit everyone.

“This contract balanced a recent shift in focus for the company in their traditional niche markets, and allows for the attraction and retention of skilled workers while remaining competitive for gaining new work,” says Colin deRaaf, Ontario representative. “The members are excited about their new contract and joining our growing local union. This new partnership allows for growth in the Barrie area, where traditionally our Barrie members commuted to Toronto to gain work. We’re enthusiastic for more opportunities to come in Barrie and the surrounding area.”
