Ledcor Construction Employees Renew Contract

DATE: January 24, 2012

Calgary, AB— Following three weeks of negotiations, Local 63 members employed by Ledcor Construction Limited voted eighty-three percent in favour of a renewed two year collective agreement.

The renewed contract contains an immediate wage increase of three percent, an increase to retirement fund contributions and the boot allowance, and improved vacation pay. A follow-up wage review is scheduled for 2013.

“We are pleased to have concluded this agreement that provides solid wage increases for the membership and increases to their retirement funding at the same time,” says Randy Klassen, Alberta representative. “Not only does this agreement provide immediate monetary gains, but it also allows the parties to continue building a positive labour relations culture that rewards employees with a fair and competitive wage and benefits package, while allowing the company to be successful in the marketplace and continue to provide jobs.”

Ledcor Construction Limited employees are journeyperson carpenters and apprentices, cement finishers, surveyors, and labourers who work in commercial construction across Alberta, primarily in the Calgary and Edmonton regions. Some of the projects they have worked on include the Epcor Tower in Edmonton and The Bow tower in Calgary.
