Leading Healthcare Agreement Ratified by Overwhelming Majority

DATE: November 17, 2011

Mississauga, ON—Over six hundred CLAC members working at five different long term care facilities in Ontario voted ninety-seven percent in favour of a renewed twenty-eight month collective agreement with their employer, Revera Inc. (Briarwood).

The employees, working in facilities in Owen Sound, Brantford, Paris, Kincardine, and Cambridge, are members of Health Care and Service Workers Union, Local 304, and Grand River Valley Health Care Employees Union, Local 305. They received four percent wage increases as well as a special adjustment to the RN classification.

Notable was the preservation of the excellent sick-time provisions and benefit coverage terms of the collective agreement, maintaining its status as one of the leading long term care agreements in the province.
