Vancouver—CLAC members employed by GML Mechanical have voted overwhelmingly in favour of a new two-year contract.
The new collective agreement provides a two dollar per hour wage increase and improvements to the pension plan.
“This is a good contract for the members,” says Local 68 Representative Dave Kenis. “It’s been a tough couple years in the construction industry, and now that it’s picking up, the guys have been rewarded with a decent increase.”
Over forty members of Construction and Allied Workers Union, Local 68, work for GML, which specializes in industrial plumbing. These members have worked on some of the highest profile projects in Vancouver, including Shangri La Hotel, the tallest building in the city.
