Increases for Home Care RPNs

DATE: October 12, 2011

Chatham, ON—Registered practical nurses employed by the Chatham Kent Victorian Order of Nurses (VON) voted unanimously in favour of a new two-year collective agreement.

The contract provides wages increases of 3.5 percent over the term, plus improvements to the shift and weekend premiums, paid breaks, and vacations. The RPNs are members of Southwestern Ontario Health Care and Service Workers Union, Local 303.

“We are very pleased to bring back a settlement like this to the membership,” says Trish Douma, southwestern Ontario director and lead negotiator. “Despite the tough economic times, we secured a very good contract.”
