Brampton, ON—Members of Health Care and Service Workers Union, Local 304, employed by Holland Christian Homes voted seventy-four percent in favour of a renewed collective agreement.
The contract provides total package increases between four and six percent over its two-year term. It includes increases to premiums for night shift, weekends, and working short; in-lieu-of-benefits premium for part-time employees; uniform allowance; and chiropractic and massage therapy benefit coverage. The agreement also provides an additional float holiday for employees with five or more years of service.
“In this economic and political climate it is difficult to achieve a freely negotiated settlement,” says Michael Glockner, CLAC Ontario representative. “Both sides are proud that they were able to achieve this settlement.”
