First Collective Agreement for Tomlinson Pembroke Employees

DATE: July 11, 2011

Pembroke, ON—Employees of Tomlinson Environmental Services voted overwhelmingly in favour of a first collective agreement.

The agreement represents significant gains for the employees. Included in the three-year contract is an immediate eleven percent raise on the hourly wage rate, with three percent raises in the second and third years. It also includes the introduction of an annual boot allowance, seniority language, and maintenance of current employer RRSP and benefit contributions.

“This is a step in the right direction for this group of workers,” says Brendan Kooy, Ottawa and eastern Ontario director. “We hope this will be the start of a positive labour relationship that will last for years to come.”

Tomlinson employees at the Pembroke location chose to join CLAC in March 2011. CLAC also represents waste collection employees at Tomlinson’s Ottawa location.
