First Agreement at Lacombe Lodge

DATE: March 02, 2011

Lacombe, AB—Local 301 members employed at the Lacombe Lodge, a retirement home, approved a newly negotiated collective agreement that will run to the end of 2012.

The agreement includes a two percent increase in wages for 2011 and 2012 as well as improvements to premiums and differentials, benefits, general holidays, personal days, and the addition of a shoe and clothing allowance.

“These negotiations were truly a testament to CLAC’s style of cooperative and progressive labour relations,” says Melanie St. Andrews, lead negotiator and Alberta representative for Local 301. “We were able to negotiate this settlement with a spirit of working together, something that the employees at the Lodge had not experienced while represented by their previous union, the UFCW.”
