Listowel, ON—Members of two Ontario volunteer firefighter associations affiliated with the CLAC, Local 911 and 920, express heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of Raymond Walter and Kenneth Rea, two volunteer firefighters who passed away yesterday in Listowel in the line of duty.
“This really hits home for us as volunteer firefighters,” says Mike Pittaway, president of Local 911, which represents volunteer firefighters in the greater Hamilton area. “This is our worst fear, every time we get called out. We are saddened by this loss and extend our condolences and our deepest sympathies to the families and friends of these two brave men. It is at times like this we offer our support to all firefighters in their time of need.”
Local 920 and 911 members stand shoulder to shoulder with thousands of fellow dedicated firefighters who courageously serve their communities. The locals represent approximately 400 volunteer firefighters in the province.
