Vancouver—Employees of Donald’s Fine Foods have chosen Service, Health, and Allied Workers’ Union, Local 501, to represent them in their workplace.
At a BC Labour Relations Board supervised vote, 84 out of 115 employees who cast a ballot voted in favour of joining CLAC.
“This is a resounding victory for the employees,” says Tony van Hengel, CLAC regional director. “We were contacted recently by a group of employees at Donald’s Fine Foods who had some deep concerns about how they were being treated by management. The campaign was short and sweet and the support for bringing in CLAC was tremendous.”
Negotiations for a first collective agreement will begin almost immediately, once a bargaining committee has been elected.
