Contract Talks Stalled At Alexandria Moulding

DATE: June 26, 2012

Ottawa—CLAC members employed by  Moulure Alexandria Moulding Inc. are waiting to see if they will be locked out on July 9.

After talks at the negotiation table to renew the current collective agreement stalled on June 11, the company requested a no board report from the Ontario Ministry of Labour, triggering what could be a possible lockout situation.

“Our bargaining committee is still willing to negotiate in hopes of reaching a settlement at the bargaining table and avoiding a work stoppage,” says Brendan Kooy, CLAC Ottawa and eastern Ontario director. “The company has tabled several proposals that represent significant concessions for our members, and we would like to see some negotiation on those items. We are looking for a fair deal, and we hope we can reach that.”

The employees, who make mouldings, trim, and other building supplies, voted to join CLAC in November 2011.
