DATE: December 30, 2011

Hamilton, ON—Members of the Greater Hamilton Volunteer Firefighter Association, Local 911, express heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of Dan Botkin, a volunteer firefighter who passed away yesterday in the line of duty in Enderby, BC.

“Every time we get a call, we know that this is a possibility,” says Mike Pittaway, president of Local 911. “This is a tragic situation that affects so many people. There are more than 125,000 volunteer firefighters in Canada, and one loss is one too many. We are saddened by this loss, and extend our sincere condolences and deepest sympathies to the family and friends of this young man. Situations like this really hit home for all firefighters, and we offer our support to all firefighters in their time of need.”
