Competitive Agreement for Executive Inn Employees

DATE: April 04, 2011

Vancouver—Local 501 members working at four hotels in the Executive Inn Hotel chain in the Vancouver area recently voted in favour of a new four-year contract, which provides increases totalling over six percent.

Due to the downturn in the hospitality industry, caused in part by the high Canadian dollar and competition from other hotels, “negotiations for this contract were very challenging,” says Gerry Stover, a steward who served on the negotiating committee. “The economy had a great impact on what we were able to achieve. The outcome of this contract is a competitive agreement for the employees, which puts us right in line with other Vancouver hotels.”

The Executive Inn hotel chain employs close to 400 CLAC members at locations in Vancouver, Burnaby, Coquitlam, and Richmond.
