CLAC Sponsors Learning Excellence Program

DATE: September 22, 2011

Fort McMurray, AB—CLAC has teamed up with the Edge School Skill Academy to bring a new learning excellence program to the Fort McMurray community.

The Edge School, first established in Calgary in 1999, seeks to integrate academics, athletics—specifically hockey and dance—and character-building.

According to Brent Devost, the school’s program director, the academy provides “an elite training experience combined with leadership training that focuses on growing positive young citizens in Fort McMurray. It is a place where a passion for sport drives a passion for learning and leading.”

Bringing the Edge School to Fort McMurray provides local students with best-in-school opportunities in their community, rather than having to relocate to a larger community, such as Edmonton or Calgary.

“We are proud to support a program that promotes hard work, dedication, and commitment with the goal of achieving excellence, and, perhaps most importantly, having fun along the way,” says Jayson Bueckert, CLAC’s Fort McMurray director. “We want to make a positive impact in the lives of our members and in the community we work in. What better way to do that then by sponsoring a program that teaches children how to be the best person they can be.”
