DATE: April 27, 2011

Edmonton—Local 63 members Everett Dana and Travis Maguire were honoured as Top Apprentices and outstanding performers in their trades at the fourteenth annual Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT) Awards.

Everette is an instrument technician employed by Pyramid Electric Corporation, in Edmonton, and Travis is a crane and hoisting equipment apprentice employed by Willbros Construction Services, based in Fort McMurray.

The awards ceremony, held recently in Edmonton, recognized Alberta’s top performing tradespeople of 2010. A total of sixty-seven awards were bestowed upon some of the most accomplished trades’ apprentices across the province as well as exemplary instructors and employers that emphasize apprenticeship training.

Among the more than fifty designated trades, approximately 60,000 individuals receive training through the Alberta AIT system. From this large group of potential candidates, fifty-nine top performing apprentices were selected based on their scholastic achievements in their trade as well as a strong recommendation from their employer.

CLAC congratulates Everette and Travis on their individual accomplishments and all the 2010 Top Apprentices across the province.
