Langley, BC—In partnership with Kiewit Construction, CLAC hosted a DigSafe BC! workshop at its Langley Training Centre. Seventy-five participants learned how to avoid buried pipelines, cables, and other underground infrastructure.
Each year in BC, over 5,000 incidents of accidental contact with underground infrastructure cause environmental damage, disruption in utility service, injury, and death and cost government and taxpayers millions of dollars.
DigSafe BC! is a province-wide program for construction workers, contractors, landscapers, irrigation technicians, railway workers, highway workers, city workers, and anyone else who digs. It includes sessions on utility and pipeline awareness, ground disturbance regulations, locating basics, the BC One Call process, damage prevention, and excavating safely.
