CLAC Donates Land to Habitat for Humanity

DATE: October 07, 2011

Chatham, ON—Habitat for Humanity will be building its first home in the Chatham-Kent region on a lot donated by CLAC.

The lot is part of an unused piece of land adjacent to property that houses the union’s Chatham office. Habitat for Humanity will be raising money to build the home as well as searching for a qualified family to move in. The home is expected to be completed by spring 2013.

“We always intended to do something with the extra property,” says Roger Grootenboer, Ontario representative. “Habitat for Humanity provided a perfect opportunity for us to donate a portion of it and help the local community.”
