Charlotte Villa Employees Vote out CAW, Join CLAC

DATE: August 23, 2012

Brantford, ON—Employees of Charlotte Villa Retirement Residence voted recently to end their relationship with the Canadian Auto Workers (CAW) union and join Grand River Valley Health Care Employees Union, Local 305, affiliated with CLAC.

“From the very beginning of the campaign, it was clear that the staff were unhappy with the level and quality of representation they were receiving from their former union,” says Susan Van Daalen, CLAC Ontario representative.

Charlotte Villa, owned by Revera, is located in Brantford and employs forty-three staff.

“The members are eager for the opportunity to have their voices heard, and we’re excited for the chance to advocate on their behalf,” says Van Daalen. “We look forward to working alongside them to overcome some of the challenges they’re facing in their workplace.”
