Bus Drivers Ratify Agreement

Winnipeg—CLAC negotiated a new collective agreement with significant increases for bus drivers employed by the Garden Valley School Division in Winkler, Manitoba.

The employees are members of Education, Service and Health Care Union, Local 306. The two-year contract calls for wage increases of 2.75 percent retroactive to July 1, 2010, and 2.5 percent effective July 1, 2011.

"We're pleased that we achieved a good and fair result for our members," says Derrick Martens, Manitoba representative. "We made improvements to paid compassionate leave and vacation pay and gained job security language. We also made progress on long-standing concerns such as extra-curricular trip assignment and sick notice.”
