Stewards Toolbox Training
This is a mandatory training program for all CLAC stewards. The program consists of three levels (Toolbox 1, 2, and 3) that include topics such as the role of stewards, conflict resolution, dealing with discipline, filing grievances, employment and labour legislation, and CLAC's history and philosophy.
Toolbox 1: Skills for Service

Description:
This six-hour course is the first in a series of three. It is intended for stewards who have had little or no formal training from the union in labour relations matters.
Topics include:
- the many hats of the steward
- policies, practices, and structure
- growing and defending your union
- dealing with discipline
- handling grievances
This course is mandatory for all CLAC stewards. A certificate is issued upon completion.

Toolbox 2: Knowledge to Lead

Description:
This six-hour course is the second in a series of three.
Topics include:
- your workplace and the law
- a brief history of Canadian labour
- three approaches to the problems of the worker
- the grievance tool
This course is mandatory for all CLAC stewards. A certificate is issued upon completion.

Description:
This six-hour course is the last in a series of three.
Topics include:
- cooperation at the bargaining table
- conflict and cooperation
- operating systems
- different social visions
This course is mandatory for all CLAC stewards. A certificate is issued upon completion.
