Apprenticeship

In order to assist apprentices in the pursuit of training and schooling, CLAC provides financial assistance that will reimburse the member for some of his or her tuition and book costs per year.

The guidelines for members to apply for and be granted reimbursement are as follows:

  • The person applying for reimbursement must be a member in good standing of Local 63. A member in good standing for the purposes of the Apprenticeship Fund is defined as an employee who has completed a membership application form, has been granted a membership card, and has his or her dues payment up to date.
  • The member must have worked a minimum of 1500 hours per school year with any CLAC employer that contributes to the Local 63 Education and Training Fund.
  • The member must have successfully completed the term and be able to show successful completion (official school documentation).
  • The member must provide Local 63 with a receipt for tuition and/or books.
  • The member must have returned to a CLAC-organized employer following completion of schooling.
  • The member will be reimbursed up to a maximum of $600 per school year per member.
  • If the member makes the dean’s list, or his or her apprenticeship exam mark is 90 percent or higher, the member will receive a further $100. The member must show a letter from the school indicating that the member made the dean’s list.
  • Application forms are available from the Edmonton and Calgary CLAC offices or can be downloaded below.
