Principles to practice

Throughout its history, CLAC has maintained active research and education programs. Although much of trade unionism in North America was originally inspired by Christian social thought, the fundamental roots and guiding principles of CLAC remain unique in the Canadian setting.

CLAC continues its efforts to translate these Christian principles into practical trade union policies and practices. The Christian world and life view provides a constructive and exciting vision of what trade unions can accomplish in labour relations and the workplace.

The research and education department provides CLAC with:

  • research support for all its activities;
  • a thorough analysis in the area of work, workplace organization, and economics;
  • education and training for members, stewards, boards, and staff;
  • published papers and books on important aspects of union work.
