03/09/10—Vacation Bank Maintained, Wage Increases at Fellowship Towers

Toronto—Employees of Fellowship Towers ratified a renewed collective agreement negotiated by their union, Health Care and Service Workers Union Local 304. The new contract, approved by 95 percent of those voting, provides employees with 6.5 percent in wage increases over 3 years as well as improvements to benefits and in-lieu of benefit premiums and shift premiums. Other improvements include a new weekend shift premium of $0.25 per hour.

“The negotiating team is to be commended for their persistence in maintaining a vacation bank as well as shortening the time required for entitlement increases,” says Stephen Bromell, CLAC Ontario representative working out of the union’s Mississauga office. “In spite of the current economic reality, improved terms and conditions to the contract were negotiated.”

Fellowship Towers, located in downtown Toronto, is home to approximately 100 retirees. The collective agreement covers all classifications in the facility except clerical and security employees.
