09/02/10—CLAC Supports Release of Employers' Injury and Fatality Records 9/2/2010 12:08:35 PM

Edmonton—The Christian Labour Association of Canada (CLAC) supports the Alberta government’s plans to release employers’ worker safety information. CLAC believes public release of companies’ injury and fatality records will help raise public awareness of workplace safety.

08/31/10—CLAC Mourns Passing of Its First President 8/31/2010 12:37:25 PM

Ingersoll, ON—CLAC mourns the death of the union's first president, James Joosse, who passed away on August 29, 2010, in his 86th year. He served as CLAC’s president from 1952 to 1957 before resigning in order to continue his studies. He was instrumental in the formation of CLAC as an alternative labour movement emphasizing the principles of justice in the workplace, the protection of the vulnerable, and providing encouragement and inspiration to workers. CLAC awarded James Joosse the title of honourary president in 1967 in celebration of his work for the union.

08/27/10—Orchard's Employees Awarded Increases 8/30/2010 1:46:51 PM

Grimsby, ON—Employees of The Orchard’s Retirement Residence in Vineland received an interest arbitration award that recognizes their hard work and contribution to the lives of residents at The Orchard’s. Approximately 30 employees provide nursing and dietary services to residents of the retirement home.

08/25/10—NAC Employees Vote in Favour of New Contract 8/25/2010 3:02:59 PM

Morriston, ON—Employees of North America Construction (NAC) voted almost 70 percent in favour of a renewed collective agreement, which provides total package increases of up to 7 percent. The workers are members of Construction Workers Local 52, affiliated with CLAC.
